Well, he may not YET be a GAP baby… but he has the perfect face, doesn’t he? I fell in love with mr. H! He was such a charming little man! We had a blast!
Here are my favorite, which was VERY hard to chose!

"A portrait should be more than a passport photo. It needs a backdrop, an expression, a movement, and, in my opinion at least a little bit of natural light. Maybe even a dewdrop or a splinter. When by happenstance I found Amanda, I stumbled onto a visual biographer, someone who could capture the character within us, place it in time and space, and make it a memory.
"Unlike most of us who can detect a Kodak moment but not capture it, Amanda has fine-tuned her professional skills to bring it all together in a single frame. Perhaps it was her knowledge of being the subject that gave her an intuitive sense of what to look for.
"Amanda came into photography honestly, first as a model in Brazil, then as a parent trying to capture her own son's poignant moments. As a model, Amanda discovered the art of environment. As a parent, she learned to tune in to the emotion within a subject. Unlike studio photography where poses seem forced and smiles unnatural, Amanda's pictures reflect the nature of her subjects whether they capture an intimate moment between newlyweds or the fleeting sense of excitement in a toddler.
"Without a doubt, her Brazilian heritage emerges in the colors she captures with her camera. One wonders why we fill our frames with black and whites and sepia tones when there is such vibrancy in the things we take for granted everyday: an old straw broom, a loved leather chair, even the fringe of a much abused rug. I used to be a fan of sepia-toned family shots until I saw Amanda's work. Now they fade into a sea of lost faces compared to the rich intensity of Amanda's prints. Besides bringing life and vibrancy into the expression of the subject, Amanda sense of light and color also captures the subtle nature of distressed wood or rusted steel in the background. I had no idea how much energy a picture could possess. I caught glimpses of my son possessively reaching for his favorite toy, of my husband smirking from the corner of his eye, and of me delighting in a single moment of being a novice mom.
"A picture has a hundred reasons for being taken; to share with friends, to remember for when we are older, to reveal to our children when they ask about themselves. Amanda's pictures capture the weight of a newborn's head on his mom's shoulder, the delighted smile of a toddler jumping in the air, even the tenderness of a couple's hands touching. She finds these moments, as unique as they are to the individuals she is photographing. Each time I revisit pictures Amanda has taken I see something new, something that brings me into that moment even if I wasn't there to begin with."

July 1, 2009 - 11:25 pm - Amanda you took great pictures of Mr. H:) He had such a great time with you and his personality was really able to come out working with you. We are just back from a mini vacation/work trip to Vegas. I was able to catch up with some much needed sleep and I now feel human again! What an amazing feeling this is!!
My inbox is full of e-mails that I promise to return as soon as possible. There is a lot I need to catch up with and it’ll be done in a timely manner. We have been receiving lots of beautiful pictures for potential Rufflebutts models. It will be hard to choose as all the babies are darling! Amber and I will be making our decision in the beginning of next week and chosen models will be contacted with all info regarding the shoot.
Lots of new images to post from recent sessions, but for now, here is my sleepy head!

We are gearing up to shoot Rufflebutts new summer-Fall collection and we need new faces!!
We love all babies that modeled for us last year, but sadly they are no longer babies! I love Rufflebutts and I must say I am sad that Bela won’t be part of the fun this year!

June, July and part of august is now fully booked*. I am now opening my fall schedule for full sessions (read holiday cards sessions). Fall is a very popular time of the year for photosessions! So, if you know that you really want to get family shots done in time to send out holiday cards, now is the time to start thinking about them.
And because she is just too charming for words, here is princess bela after a beach day!

* I will still accept headshots appointments throughout the summer.

Laura and I had a fantastic time on this maternity shoot! We had a slight different plan for the session, but ‘june glom’ would not allow us to go forward with the plan, so we improvised! Images turned out perfect and I was sad when I was done editing all the photos… I wanted more! Thank you Tammy for being such a GREAT model for us!

We had her sweet daughter join her for the majority of the shots. And they are my most favorite ones! I had a VERY hard time picking the images I was going to edit for her gallery.

I also took some of her girly girl alone and I just had to share this one. Which in my opinion, deserves a really special place to be displayed BIG in their home. Isn’t she just precious!???

Can’t wait to meet baby boy!

I have been blogging since 2001. How crazy is that? We had a family blog that my husband started for me since I was pregnant with my son. It was originaly intended for all my family back in Brazil, so they could feel part of Ethan’s life even from that much of a distance. Not bragging or anything, but I do have THE best husband in the world! He is always thinking about me and how he can make my life away from my family, easier. I hope I get to marry him again in my next life!
So, I have decided that since I can no longer remember to update that blog, I would from time to time post personal stuff here (well… not TOO personal!). I want to remember things years from now, you know? I need to actually make a book with all of those fun facts I have written over the years! haha I am sure my kids would love that! LOL Do u think that would take some serious time? yah… I think so!
Anyways, I thought I’d make a *public* note to myself about this chocolate tasting/girl’s night out/baby shower that I went to back in march. I have to say… it was a blast! It was so much fun, I was sad when it was over! I mean… I LOVE chocolates, just adore them! To top it off we had some champagne and a fantastic group of people to share the night with! I could have stayed there for days!!! The chocolates we tasted were the absolute best I have EVER had… as in EVER IN MY LIFE! And trust me, I have had way too many chocolates over the course of my 29 years in this planet!

If you’d like to go check it out for yourself, here is their info: Chocolats du CaliBressan.

June 18, 2009 - 10:41 pm - I keep telling myself to just combine the personal & business blog. I'm so bad about posting on my personal one!! Well....ok since this pregnancy got going I'm bad at posting anywhere. :P Looks like you guys had fun!
I had a great time with you baby “J”! I look forward to seeing you and your beautiful family at the end of the year!

I am sure you remember Ryan Newman from a few shoots we did together a while back. She is starring in a brand new series, “Zeke and Luther” on the Disney XD channel. So this is a quick reminder about Zeke and Luther’s premier tonight on disney channel at 8:30 pm.
http://disney.go.com/inside/mainattraction/today/index.html
My kids and hubby just met Ryan and her family the other day as we met for a fun saturday at the LA zoo. What a lovely day that was! The kids got along great and enjoyed checking out all the animals at the zoo. Bela fell in love with the girls and keep talking about them! She says Ryan’s sister is her best friend! so cute!

Ethan is excited to watch the show as he is starting to show some interest for bikes, scooters and skateboards. But the show is not only for boys! It should be fun for the whole family too! Ryan will add a “touch of sass” to the show and make everyone fall in love with her! Can’t wait for tonite!
So don’t forget to watch the premier of Zeke and Luther tonite at 8:30 pm on Disney XD!

June 18, 2009 - 7:06 am - WOW how gorgeous is Ryan! She has the most beautiful eyes. And those portraits of her are just stunning Amanda. No wonder she is now on a Disney TV show. How fabulous for her. And hey it looks like you had fun at the zoo!! Sweet!
June 21, 2009 - 5:17 pm - my kids love that show, and they think it's pretty cool that you took pictures of ryan, and went to the zoo with her :)
These sisters were so fun to photograph! Look how beautiful and camera ready they are!

Thank you again for the wonderfult time together! It was great meeting and working with you! Look forward to next time!

June 13, 2009 - 11:49 am - Thank you, Amanda! The photos look great! My two favorite of Simone are the second set of her here! You have a very easy style of shooting that puts kids at ease and allows them to be themselves with you. I think these new photos will boost the girls audition number up for sure! We'll definitely be back for an update in the future and have passed your name on to others already. My girls love you and so do we! Thanks! Kathy
June 16, 2009 - 12:59 am - Amanda, we wanted to let you know that we've gotten some amazing feedback on these photos of our girls that you posted here on your blog. Everyone loves them, as well as the rest of your work on your website! I think you're going to have some more businses coming your way from our friends! Thanks again!
June 16, 2009 - 11:11 pm - My compliments on capturing these two girls so well. You took two great models (that is, if they really are pros) and took them to the next level. You really rang the pay station with this shoot.
June 18, 2009 - 12:51 am - Amanda, The photos of Sophia and Simone are absolutely amazing! The girls are glowing and exude innocence and happiness. It takes a very talented and skilled photographer to achieve what you have captured in their photos!
June 21, 2009 - 5:15 pm - These are super cute Amanda, and what pretty little girls!
